Mother’s Day was created by social activist Anna Jarvis (1864-1948), who worked hard to establish Mother's Day after her mother. Anna organised the first-ever Mother's Day event at the school in West Virginia where her mother had been a teacher. It was 1914, Woodrow Wilson (28th U.S President) made Mother's Day a national holiday, to be recognised on the second Sunday in May before spreading across the globe.
